KXXV Reporter and Weekend Anchor

Hello, I'm Joel Lopez. I'm a reporter and weekend anchor with 25 News here in Central Texas. I was born in Lima, Peru before my family moved to West Palm Beach, Florida. I went on to study Broadcast Journalism at the University of Florida, where I became a first-generation college grad. GO GATORS.

The job opportunity is what brought me to Waco and I've been here for about a year now. Through 25 News I've been able to tell the stories of missing soldiers at Fort Hood, Black Lives Matter marches, to stories of local people overcoming coronavirus and rebounding through the pandemic.

I can speak both English and Spanish fluently, and have loved meeting all members of the community who make Central Texas so diverse and such a great place to call my new home.
